Concor provides financial assistance to qualifying students, enabling them to complete a Degree or National Diploma in construction related studies, at a recognized South African University or University of Technology. Investment in construction related bursaries provides the company with high caliber graduates, ensuring that its medium and long term human capital requirements are met.

In order to qualify for a bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be younger than 30 years old
  • Must be a full-time student studying towards a relevant Degree or National Diploma at a recognized South African University or University of Technology
  • Must have successfully completed their 1st year of study
  • Must have no other bursary awarded by another organization.

The fields of study will be revised from time to time, but currently includes:

  • Building / Construction Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Land Surveying
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying

Concor employees’ children or dependents are also encouraged to apply, provided they meet the qualifying criteria above. General bursary rules and conditions will be applicable.

Graduate Mentorship Programme

The Concor Graduate Mentorship Programme (GMP) is aimed at formalising and guiding the transfer of technical, leadership and management skills from mentors (experienced professionals within our business) to mentees (new graduates).

The GMP facilitates practical knowledge and skills transfer, in order to produce a steady pipeline of capable professionals who will contribute to the growth and success of the company, and the construction and mining sectors at large.

This programme also assists in the compilation of a substantial portfolio of evidence that would assist the mentee to register professionally with the relevant professional councils, either on completion of the GMP or during the course of their professional career.

Participation in the GMP is limited to Concor bursars that have completed construction-related studies. In some instances, participation in the GMP is open to external candidates that demonstrate excellent results, as well as passion and commitment to the Group and industry.

Ongoing Professional Development

All employees are encouraged and supported to undertake ongoing professional development. Priority programmes included skills development and training courses that will enhance existing performance and roles within the company. Employees are also encouraged to complete professional registration with accredited sector bodies.
