Our People

Concor employs over 3 000 employees, the majority of whom are based on project sites. We offer a wide range of careers within the company, ranging from semi-skilled workers to junior administrators, managers, engineering and construction professionals and senior executives, among others.

We embrace holistic development and support for employees with the aim of being a first-choice employer within our sectors.

Our long serving employees are a true reflection of our loyalty and commitment to our workforce. Employees are valued, respected and recognised for their hard work.

Benefits
Concor offers comprehensive employee benefits aimed at attracting new talent and retaining loyal employees. In addition to competitive, market-related salary packages, we also offer employee benefits as follows.

Talent Management

Appropriate skills development, talent management, employee recognition and wellness programmes are in place to promote high functioning, motivated teams and a committed workforce that will assist the Group in achieving its strategic objectives.

All employees within Concor are encouraged and supported to pursue ongoing professional development through a range of short courses, degrees and professional registration with accredited institutions.

Bursary Programme

Concor offers bursaries each year for those entering further/higher education institutions, pursuing careers that will benefit the construction industry. Bursaries are limited to studies within construction, engineering and the built environment.

We offer bursaries from 2nd year onwards and bursaries are allocated in accordance with the future skills needs of the company, as well as available budget. In excess of 70 bursars have completed their studies since 2011 and all bursary recipients were absorbed into Concor thereafter. Concor also provides practical on-site training for trainee engineers and technicians, thus exposing them to the demands and complexity of infrastructure development.

  • 41 Bursars in FY2017
  • 26 Graduates employed in FY2017
Graduate Mentorship Programme

The Concor Graduate Mentorship Programme (GMP) is aimed at formalising and guiding the transfer of technical, leadership and management skills from mentors (experienced professionals within our business) to mentees (new graduates).

The GMP facilitates practical knowledge and skills transfer, in order to produce a steady pipeline of capable professionals who will contribute to the growth and success of the company, and the construction and mining sectors at large.

This programme also assists in the compilation of a substantial portfolio of evidence that would assist the mentee to register professionally with the relevant professional councils, either on completion of the GMP or during the course of their professional career.

Participation in the GMP is limited to Concor bursars that have completed construction-related studies. In some instances, participation in the GMP is open to external candidates that demonstrate excellent results, as well as passion and commitment to the Group and industry.

Ongoing Professional Development

All employees are encouraged and supported to undertake ongoing professional development. Priority programmes included skills development and training courses that will enhance existing performance and roles within the company. Employees are also encouraged to complete professional registration with accredited sector bodies.
