This coupled with, extensive experience and expertise allows the company to successfully undertake contract management of projects from the shop detailing phase through to final on site commissioning and handover.

Shop Detailing

Essential to the success of any turnkey project is the accurate detailing of drawings. Concor Engineering’s structural steel detailing office employs various computer aided programmes including the latest 3-D version of X-Steel and Auto Cad to ensure that quality best practice detailing is done. Use is made of electronic data transfer to facilitate better information exchange.

A core group of skilled draughtsmen are responsible for maintaining consistent quality detailing with a fast turnaround ensuring precision fabrication. A skills development programme within the detailing office ensures transfer of skills and experience building sustainability.

Fabrication

Fast track projects are a way of business in the structural steel industry today, and with extensive experience in the SMPP fabrication sector Concor Engineering has the ability to fabricate structural, mechanical, platework and piping within tolerances and to international best practice standards.

The company’s in-house fabrication facility specialises in structural steel and platework fabrication and when necessary is supplemented through the use of contractors with whom Concor Engineering has long term relationships. All sub contractors comply with the company’s stringent quality control processes.

All welding is undertaken by skilled artisans who are coded members of the South African Institute of Welders. The company is coded to various international institutions including AWS D1.1.

When necessary, trial assembly is undertaken prior to structural steel and platework being dispatched to site.

Finishing of structural fabrication components is according to project specifications and includes specialised paintwork as well as galvanising when required.

Construction

Concor Engineering undertakes the on-site erection and construction of all structural steelwork, platework and piping, as well as the installation of mechanical free issue components provided by other suppliers. The company also provides the necessary management structures to oversee sub contractors during this phase of the project providing a seamless work flow.

Computer aided planning and controls including Primavera, Site Plan and MS Project Systems are employed on major contracts.

Concor Engineering’s unique ability to identify potential obstacles while simultaneously managing and performing portions of the erection and construction process proves invaluable on sites today. Attention to non-negotiable deliverables including safety, environment and quality best practice ensure projects are delivered within budget and on time without compromise.
